Hello, my name is Samuel Lopez. I'm a photographer based in New York, NY. I work using only film including Polaroids. I prefer to work in Black and White but I do also work with color film. I can cover a wide range of genres including Portraiture, Still Life, Action, Artistic Figure, Movie Stills, Headshots, Fashion and Urban Landscapes. I don't use Photo shop to enhance my work. What you see is what what was made in the camera. I scan the film negatives, prints and Polaroids and only use Photo shop to take out dust specks, crop and add some contrast as the scanner loses that during the scanning process.
I am available for hire with reasonable rates.
About Me:
I grew up in Northern California and spent a good part of my life there. In Oct of 2011 I made my way to New York, NY and have instantly fallen in love with this city! Being a Jack of all trades I have worked in several different careers but Photography has always been a main interest to me. I am self taught in the Art of Photography. I process my own film and prints which is really exciting for me! It's like seeing a child being born each time a print comes out of the chemicals. It's all a very personal thing to me. The whole process of developing the negatives to finished print is a work of Love.
I also enjoy meeting and working with the people that wonder in front of my lens. I like to get to know them, hear their story. They are not just a model or a subject to me, they are letting me capture them at that particular moment in time and I feel that is a very special thing.
